This was in response to a letter released by the Principals of Colleges of Education(PRINCOF) to the Ministry of Education on Monday,October 31 requesting for permission to ask students in colleges of Education to fend for themselves effective November 7,2022.
Executive Secretary for PRINCOF,Dr. Harriet Naki Amui stated in the letter how food has become a huge challenge for the trainees. She also mentioned that, this unpleasant event has deterred suppliers from supplying food to colleges due to PRINCOF's indebted state.Amongst PRINCOF's proposition to the government is an upward review of their feeding grant which is yet to be approved by the Ministry of Education. Some reasonable modification as far as the three square meal at 6.50p per each trainee a day is concerned and a reduction in outrageous food prices are what the government is expected to provide before next week commences to avoid disruption of the academic year.
